for local charity, Wiltshire Citizens Advice

The Water Meadow pub in Melksham hosted a barbecue and raised £250 for local charity, Wiltshire Citizens Advice, which helps people resolve their money, legal and problems by providing free, confidential advice.

With support from customers, as well as staff and volunteers from the charity and their family and friends, the fundraiser, which took place on the afternoon of Saturday 2 June 2018 featured a barbecue, tombola and raffle. It provided a great opportunity for local people to have some fun while raising awareness for a worthy cause.

Wiltshire Citizens Advice is a local charity which offers advice and practical support for local people and their families to deal with the problems they’re facing. Although most people have heard of the Citizens Advice service, very few people realise each local Citizens Advice is an independent charity; and that most of people who provide the advice are volunteers.

The event, held to co-inside with Volunteers’ Week, also provided a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the contributions of local CAB volunteers. More than 130 people volunteer their time and skills with Wiltshire Citizens Advice to help deliver advice services throughout the county.

Suzanne Wigmore, Chief Executive Officer at Wiltshire Citizens Advice said: “It’s really great to see local businesses such as The Water Meadow host events like this. We want to say a huge thank you to Keith and his team at the Water Meadow, and all the people who attended and donated to Wiltshire Citizens Advice.

“Last year we helped over 15,000 people find a way forward in dealing with more than 35,000 problems. We have teams throughout Wiltshire which support local people and their families across the county so this money will really help these families receive the vital support we provide”.
